Kit review: Astrid Wild Elsa Cargo Pants

Reviewed by Emily

Astrid Wild kindly sent their Elsa Cargo Pants for review, and Emily has been trying the out the size 54.

My highlights:

- the fabric is lightweight, really quick drying and stretchy

- they are really high waisted

- I love the adjustable waistband, it’s gently elasticated but it is lovely to be able to tighten or loosen on the go

- they are far too long for me, but doing up the poppers on the ankles keeps them out of the way

- the pockets are HUGE

These have quickly become my go-to pair of trousers for almost everything outside, they are the high waisted trousers of my dreams! Honestly, wearing them on the hill is a revelation. I didn’t get cold when it rained, they dried really quickly once the shower was over. I scrambled and played on the rocks and there was never ever a need to hitch them back up to my waist, or felt them tug or pull uncomfortably. It was actually really surprising to be able to move in trousers with no restrictions - I kept forgetting they were there, and it reminded me how every other pair of outdoor trousers I’ve worn has been annoying in some way.

The website has lots of features that make it really easy to choose the right size (from 30 to 56). There is a comprehensive size chart, and also finished measurements for the garment that you can compare to your own measurements. There are also really clear photos of several sizes shown on different models to give a great picture of how they look on different bodies.

Size 54 measurements from size charts: 106-110cm, Hips: 126-130cm

My measurements are: Waist: 109cm, Hips: 135cm, Thigh: 83cm, Inside leg: 77cm

Garment measurements: Waist: 103-115cm, Hips: 135cm, Thigh: 86cm, Inside leg: 81cm
