We work with brands to improve the size inclusivity of their clothing. This includes everything from consulting on plus size fit to inputting on representation within your brand to advising on communication strategy to reach the plus size community.
Our Asks
We’ve developed six asks of brands to help address some of the common issues around size inclusivity.
Extend your sizing
Whether you’re dipping your toes in the outdoors for the first time or you’re more experienced, we all need clothing and kit that keeps us warm, safe and dry. Plus size people are disproportionately affected by not being able to get the right kit as so much stops at a size 18.
Provide accurate size charts
For plus size people to be able to shop online, we need accurate and comprehensive sizing charts to help us to work out if the clothes are going to fit our bodies. These need to include all the relevant measurements and ideally final garment measurements or ease.
Show clothes on different body shapes/sizes
Firstly, this allows us to assess how your clothes might fit on a variety of bodies. More importantly, it is a vital and powerful signal from the industry to us that we belong in the outdoors, that plus size people deserve to be well clothed in the outdoors and that people with larger bodies are valued customers.
Stock all the different sizes in your shops
Many outdoors shops do not stock all the sizes that are available, and this is disproportionately true for plus sizes. It's not just down to the brands to make the clothes - we need shops to stock our sizes, both in store as well as online.
Use plus size sizing standards and fit models
Most plus size outdoors clothing is simply graded up from smaller sizes, without taking into account the way bodies change with size. While not all bodies are the same shape, there are common themes such as a need for higher trouser rise.
Engage with plus size outdoors people
