Kit review: D2D WinterBlock Performance Bib Tights

Reviewed by Steph

Bib shorts and bib tights are often more comfortable to cycle in - especially on long rides - as you don't have a tight waistband. These winter tights from D2D Cycling Clothing are designed to keep you cycling during the coldest months.

FEATURES:
First up, let's talk about the chamois pad - according to D2D this is a seamless 4D chamois, and I was really impressed with how comfortable it was, even on long rides. The legs and front body of the bibs is made from a fleece lined lycra and is incredibly soft and comfortable, with the back in a more breathable mesh. I found I stayed warm even in freezing temperatures, but also didn't get too sweaty. The zips on the ankles make getting the bibs on easy. All in all, everything I'd be looking for in a pair of winter bib tights!

SIZE AND FIT:
I went for the size 3XL following advice from D2D - I'm a 41 inch waist and 51 inch hip, and 5'10 tall. The size chart says these will fit 40-44 inch, and they're a perfect fit on me. There is the right amount of stretch in the body part that they stay up, but aren't uncomfortably tight. The legs are also nicely snug on me, the whole way down to my ankles.

PERFORMANCE:
I wore these for several months, testing them on short commute rides in the city but also some 30 mile rides in the countryside, and they were brilliant. The pad was comfortable, the fit great, and they kept me really warm (which historically I've struggled with in winter). They are a real bargain for the price and a piece of kit I'll wear and wear over the months and years ahead.
