Kit review: Fat Lad At The Back Bobby Dazzler cycling jersey

Reviewed by Steph

It may be chilly outside, but I'm already planning my cycling adventures for 2024, and that means thinking about the kit I'll need. This is a bright and vibrant short sleeve jersey from Fat Lad At The Back for your warm weather rides (but fear not, long sleeve are also available)!

FEATURES:
This lightweight jersey (135gsm weight fabric for the nerds) is made with really soft and stretchy breathable and wicking fabric, and the design of the cuffs means it's comfortable on your upper arms. The silicon hem at the bottom stops it riding up when cycling, and there's large back pockets that work well for snacks and small items, and a zippable pocket for your essentials. It's got a full zip which means it's easy to get on and off and can be unzipped part of the way to give more ventilation and cooling. It's also incredibly snazzy and vibrant and definitely up there with my favourite patterns.

SIZE AND FIT:
I wore a size 47 which the size chart says fits a 47 inch chest, 42 inch waist and 51 inch hip, which is pretty much bang on (I'm a 46 inch chest, 41 inch waist and 51 inch hip). I found it a really great fit - I have quite a long body so often find jerseys ride up when I'm cycling but this one really stayed put and the whole thing felt in proportion and like there was no excess fabric anywhere. As with other FLAB items, they've really considered how bodies change shape with size rather than just grading up from smaller sizes, and it shows! The jersey goes up to a maximum size 53 which will fit a 53 inch chest, 48 inch waist and 59 inch hip.

PERFORMANCE:
Switching from wearing general outdoors tops to cycling jerseys has been a revelation for me, and this jersey is a great example. On warm days, I can go out and be comfortable for the whole time with much less stopping to layer up/down than before, and the fabric wicks away my sweat really well. It's incredibly comfortable, stays in place (rather than rolling up) and I can now reach my emergency flapjack so easily!
