Kit review: Outdoor Research Aspire Rain Pants

FEATURES

Lightweight waterproof over trousers, made from Gore-Tex Paclite fabric. These feature 3/4 waterproof length zips that can be opened from the top or the bottom. There is an adjustable elastic waistband and a back pocket that you can use as a stuff sack for carrying the trousers in your bag.

SIZE AND FIT

These are available up to a 4X and I am wearing a size 3X. The size chart fit waist from 47.5 - 51.5in and hips 53 - 57in and I have a 42in waist and 52.5in hips. My hip measurement is exactly between a size 2X and 3X, but I chose the larger size because I wanted to have (for the first time ever!) waterproof trousers that weren’t tight around my upper thigh. These have enough room that I can put them on over a pair of jeans and cycle round town on a wet day without them ever feeling restricting. The inside leg measurement is 31in for all sizes whereas my inside leg measurement is 29in.

PERFORMANCE

These are hands down the best waterproof trousers I’ve ever had. The are a bit too long for me (I have very short legs) so do flap a bit around the ankles. I love that they are lightweight and easy to carry, and the zips mean they are easy to slip on over everything or to give a bit of ventilation. And satisfyingly waterproof!
