KIT REVIEW : Keela Stratus Jacket
Reviewed by Steph
Want a sturdy jacket to keep you warm and dry in the mountains? This Keela jacket might be for you.
FEATURES
This waterproof jacket is well designed and the construction is high quality and very comfortable to wear. It has a two way zip and a double storm flap to help provided added protection in the elements. If you love pockets, this is a great choice - there's two hip pockets, four in the chest (including one that will fit an OS map) and one in the sleeve. There's also pit zips for if you run hot walking up hills like me.
SIZE AND FIT
I tested the size 20, but the jacket goes up to a size 22 in womens (3XL in mens). The size chart said the size 20 should fit a 44 chest, 41 waist and 46 inch hip, but I'm a 46 chest, 41 waist and 51 inch hip and it is an excellent fit on me. I still had plenty of room for a thick fleece or insulated jacket. I found the jacket a bit big around my bust, but I don't have a particularly large bust, so it will probably be a better fit on someone else who does.
PERFORMANCE
This jacket is built for wet and cold conditions - if you're looking for a small and packable layer, it's probably not the one for you. However, it is perfect for heading into the hills and mountains and knowing you're going to stay dry - I survived more than one drenching without it wetting through. The number of pockets is probably overkill for me, but it's also used by rescue teams, so I can understand how this is useful for them! Overall it's a great jacket that feels like it is built to last and will keep you warm and dry for years to come.
