KIT REVIEW: Regatta Women's Wentwood VIII Jacket

Reviewed by Sarah

The Regatta Women’s Wentwood VIII jacket is perfect for a day on the hills, whatever the weather. The removable inner jacket and breathable waterproof outer means that you’re always prepared. It's good for the environment too, as it is made using recycled plastic bottles.

FEATURES
The jacket is amazing as it has an inner, removable soft shell. The soft shell jacket can be worn on its own during warmer months, as it has its own zip, two outer zip pockets and two inner pockets (no zips). The outer jacket has a hood, two outer zip pockets and one inner zip pocket, as well as a breathable mesh. I am happy that this is made from recycled bottles, as sustainability is high on my list when choosing kit. The bright blue colour is just my style, too.

SIZE AND FIT
I trialled a size 22, which according to the size chart is a 48 in chest, 41 in waist and 50 in hip. I am a 52 in bust, a 47 in waist and a 53 in hip – a short, hourglass shape with a large bum and tum. I found I had plenty of room within the waterproof, despite the measurement differences. The outer jacket covers my waist and bum comfortably without feeling constricted. Even the inner jacket is comfortable, although slightly tighter on the bum. The only issue with the jacket is that the arms are too long (see photo). It might be better suited on a taller body, or at least someone with longer arms!

PERFORMANCE
I tested the jacket, including on one of my regional Every Body Outdoors walks. During the walk, the jacket was breathable and warm. When there was a downpour at the very end of the walk, the jacket performed well. It kept me dry without making me feel sweaty and uncomfortable. I have had two other Regatta waterproofs before, but this has very much outperformed them, as well as being a better fit.

All in all, this is a great piece of kit. I have had so many compliments on the jacket (especially the colour)! I would recommend the jacket to anyone who is going on day hikes when they’re unsure of the weather, as it really does cover all eventualities.
